Broadchurch. Definitely not for the faint of heart, Broadchurch is compelling drama that can get heavy, really heavy, but is still well worth the watch. When a young boy is found dead in a sleepy little town, the detectives charged with finding his killer uncover more than they bargain for. The show’s writing is spectacular, with twist after twist always keeping the audience guessing, but it really shines when it comes to the cast. David Tennant offers up what is quite possibly the best dramatic performance of his life, and Olivia Coleman seems perfectly suited as his on screen partner.
Twin Peaks. Although released all the way back in the 90s, David Lynch’s Twin Peaks continues to enjoy a cult following to this very day, one which has only been amplified thanks to the current Showtime revival. The show stars Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper, who uncovers far more than he bargained for when charged with investigating the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer. The small town murder mystery soon turns to the supernatural, as Cooper’s investigation leads to conspiracy theories, otherworldly beings, time travel, and dwarves in red business suits. If you haven’t already watched Twin Peaks, you’re seriously missing out.
